Your Winter Roadside Emergency Kit: What to Include
It’s a good idea to have a roadside emergency kit packed in every one of your vehicles, and that goes double for winter. In addition to a first aid kit and some extra doses of any essential medications, you should build your winter roadside emergency kit around this checklist from Patrick Hyundai — and be sure to check its contents regularly, like when you do your seasonal maintenance.

Roadside Emergency Kit Checklist
Winter Emergency Items
These items are ones you should specifically keep in your vehicle in winter, though it doesn’t hurt to drive around Schaumburg with them all-year round:
Ice scraper with brush
Winter coat, hat, gloves, scarf
Instant hand warmers
Normally we’d recommend simply proper tire changing tools, but trying to change a tire in ice and snow has us including an instant flat fix solution.
Car Maintenance and Repair Items
While a winter roadside emergency kit has some special features, you’ll want many of these in your car all-year:
Portable battery kit and/or jumper cables
Simple toolkit (screwdrivers, a pocket knife, pliers, and a lug wrench)
Spare tire and car jack
2×6 of wood
Tire pressure gauge
Flashlight with extra batteries
Windshield washer fluid
Personal Care Items
If you’re stuck along the side of the road for a while, you’ll want some other essentials as well.
Non-perishable snacks (granola bars, nuts)
Pen and paper
Moist towelettes for cleaning up
