Experts Project Hyundai Will Climb to Be the World’s 3rd Largest Automaker
It’s clear to see Hyundai is moving ahead. In fact, they’re so close to taking the lead some industry experts forecast the Korean automaker may soon become the world’s third largest car manufacturer.
One major factor enhancing the likeliness of this gain is how hard hit Toyota has been by the recent earthquake-tsunami disaster. Specifically, the Hyundai Kia Automotive Group initially set their 2011 annual sales goal at 6.3 million units worldwide with its annual production capacity expected to surpass 6.6 million. However, since the double disaster struck Japan, Hyundai has said that it may produce as many as seven million units this year alone – a target surpassing that of Toyota, which, along with Nissan, is expected to scale down production.
Evidence that Hyundai is on the road toward greater success, are March’s numbers. Hyundai outperformed their competitor for the first time ever.
