2011 Hyundai Elantra Named IIHS Top Safety Pick

In refreshing the new Elantra, Hyundai paid particularly close attention to fuel economy, comfort, modern design, and, last but not least - safety. The Elantra is, in fact, one of only six cars named a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), within the small car category.

To put this into perspective, thirteen cars were evaluated, in total. That means, the Hyundai Elantra beat over half of its closest competitors in terms of safety...A pretty big deal, if you ask us.

To earn the IIHS Top Safety Pick designation, the 2011 Hyundai Elantra had to receive  top "Good" ratings in a series of four crash tests: front, side, rear and roof-strength/rollover. The small car also had to come standard with electronic stability control. Needless to say, it passed with flying colors, giving prospective Hyundai buyers just one more reason experience the 2011 Elantra first hand at Patrick Hyundai in greater Chicago, IL, today.

Even Edmunds.com, which doesn't bestow praise freely wrote, "With head-turning new styling, a fuel efficient new engine and a long list of standard safety features and upscale options, the 2011 Hyundai Elantra is ready to give any compact sedan on the road a run for its money."1 Among the new Elantra' "pros" named by Edumds.com are: "Outstanding fuel economy on all models, lots of features for the money, comfortable cabin, large trunk, long warranty coverage, distinctive styling."2
