How prioritized is safety?

Safety was a top priority when creating the Kona. As such, the Kona comes standard with a compact temporary spare tire, a rearview camera with dynamic guidance, an electronic stability control system with both traction control and brake assist, a tire pressure monitoring system that shows each individual tire's pressure, LATCH, and a remote keyless entry system with alarm. Additional features like high beam assist, lane keeping assist, driver attention warning, forward collision-avoidance assist with pedestrian detection, blind spot collision warning, rear cross-traffic collision warning, and lane change assist are all available on upper-level trims and as optional add-ons as well.

How many trims does the Kona offer?

The new Kona has four options for trims. The SE is the base trim with standard features like solar control glass, LED daytime running lights, automatic headlights, a rear window defroster, Bluetooth, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, a USB port, a cargo cover, a front center console. The SEL trim builds off of this with an additional leather shift knob, an eight-way adjustable driver bucket seat, heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and power lumbar support for the driver seat. The next trim is the Limited with additional features like leather upholstery, LED headlights, a premium audio system, and a sunroof. The final trim level is the Ultimate with the Blue Link system, an 8-inch color touchscreen, a wireless device charger, and a heads-up display.

Which engines are available?

The Kona has two engine options. The SE and SEL trims come with a 2-liter Atkinson Cycle 4-cylinder engine with 147 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque. This engine is matched to a six-speed automatic transmission and has a multi-point fuel injection system. The second engine is found in the Limited and Ultimate trims. This engine is a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine with 175 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque. The turbocharged engine comes paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and has direct injection.
